BERRINBA WETLANDS

Public BBQ

Berrinba Wetlands offers an accessible 3-kilometre paved loop that winds through remarkably tranquil bushland, a rare urban escape where pelicans glide overhead and the city's hum fades entirely. The viewing platform provides front-row seats to the wetlands' resident pelican colony, while a bird-watching cabin attracts photographers hoping to capture the abundant wildlife that thrives here. Well-constructed pathways with ample seating accommodate walkers, runners, and leashed dogs, though the occasional red-bellied black snake or carpet python reminds visitors they're sharing genuine Australian habitat. The entrance features a playground that keeps children entertained while adults fire up the barbecues at well-equipped picnic facilities, all nestled under shade trees that provide welcome relief on sunny days. The 5-kilometre main track offers strategic stopping points for soaking in the scenery, creating an experience that successfully balances family recreation with nature appreciation. Just remember the slip-slop-slap routine and snake awareness during warmer months.
